PRIVACY

Your privacy matters.

We want supporters to feel confident when they use Closer 2 Care to learn, advocate and support the campaign.

Our approach to privacy

Closer 2 Care respects your privacy and aims to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate this website and provide its advocacy services. We will handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws and the organisation's obligations as they apply to its activities.

Information we may collect

Depending on how you use the website, information may include your name, suburb, postcode, email address or other information you choose to provide. If you use the advocacy tool, you may also provide a personal reason or story explaining why you support closer-to-home children's oncology care.

Please do not include sensitive personal, medical or identifying information about yourself or another person unless you are comfortable doing so and the information is genuinely necessary for your message. In particular, the advocacy form should not be used to submit detailed medical records or clinical information.

How the advocacy tool uses your information

The advocacy tool may use your postcode to identify your relevant electorate and help you prepare a message for your Parliament member. Information you enter into the message is used to generate the draft message you review before taking action.

Where possible, the website should process information only for the purpose for which it was provided. The production system should be configured not to retain advocacy submissions or personal stories unless there is a documented reason to do so and the required privacy basis and notices are in place.

Sending your message

Before a message is sent, you can review and edit it. If you choose to open your email application or otherwise contact a representative, the message and any information you include will be transmitted using the service you choose. Once information has been sent to a Parliament member or another third party, their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy arrangements.

Website analytics and cookies

The website may use essential technologies required for security, functionality and accessibility. If analytics, advertising pixels, embedded content or other non-essential tracking technologies are introduced, Closer 2 Care should provide appropriate notice and obtain consent where required before using them.

Third-party services

The website may link to or integrate with services operated by third parties, such as official Australian parliamentary resources, electorate information services, donation or payment providers, event platforms, hosting providers and social media platforms. Those services may collect or process information under their own privacy policies. Closer 2 Care should only integrate services that are appropriate for the campaign and configured with privacy and security in mind.

Keeping information secure

Reasonable technical and organisational measures should be used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access to personal information should be limited to people and service providers who need it to perform an authorised function.

Access, correction and privacy enquiries

If you believe Closer 2 Care holds personal information about you and you would like to request access or correction, or if you have a privacy concern, please use the organisation's approved privacy contact pathway.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the website, advocacy workflow, third-party services or applicable privacy requirements change. The current version published on this website will apply to information handled under the website's privacy arrangements.
